| OFFICE RENOVATION |
The main goal of the design was the conversion of an existing store on the ground floor of a six-storey building of the '80s with mixed commercial and residential use into a modern office space. The office is on the busy Prodromou avenue in the municipality of Strovolos, in Nicosia.
The structure of the company, due to its small size in Cyprus, requires the organisation of space in closed offices of administration - staff, which are located on the ground floor along with the reception, waiting area and meeting room. The auxiliary spaces, the archive as well as the future extensions of offices are organised on the ground floor, with glass curtains, in order to give supervision to the ground floor space. The separation of the individual functions with transparent glass dividers intensifies the feeling of the single space and allows interesting transparent visual escapes. Simple, straight lines engage the workplace and common areas.
The aim of the new procedures was the performance of a new architectural identity, both outside and inside the office. The bold two-tone facade clearly separates the wooden entrance from the dark glazed windows and gives a strong presence to the building. The contrast between white and dark colour is transferred to the interior.
Wood paneling and office equipment alternate with white walls and ceilings. The special construction of the wooden bookcase with alternating shelves and black glass cabinets separates the movement towards the mezzanine. Additional structures, such as linear staircase, made by metal to contribute creatively to match the composition.
Overall, the design approach is characterised by the functional organisation, the emphasis on materiality and the modern style of a technologically advanced workplace.
