The challenge of the project was to find a successful relationship between the design, the chosen materials, the method of implementation and maintenance costs. Existing stone paving at the entrance and on the terraces had been damaged due to weather conditions. The ficus trees next to the pool caused serious damage as their root system spread, lifted the adjacent slabs and penetrated the pool retaining walls. 

The dangerous trees were uprooted and the corroded and damaged slab paving on the ground as well as the damaged pool linings were removed.

The main goal of the collaboration between Landscape Architect and Architect was to combine hard materials [hardscape] with the plant/green materials [softscape]. The new marble paving at the entrance and on the terraces coexist harmoniously with the green spaces with ornamental plants and trees. Particular emphasis was placed on the integration of plants and within the space.

The pool was restored and the walls were coated with “liner” and travertine marble in "antique" finish on the perimeter floor. The "antique" process involves forging the marble to produce a coarse finish giving anti-slip properties to the floor. Water and planting create a landscape of total well-being and relaxation. Experiencing the completed space can be described as a positive dynamic experience, a supply of "oxygen".

Το έργο είχε μια ενδιαφέρον πρόκληση, η συσχέτιση μεταξύ σχεδιασμού, επιλογής των υλικών, τρόπου υλοποίησης και κόστους συντήρησης. Οι υφιστάμενες πέτρινες πλακοστρώσεις στην είσοδο και στις βεράντες είχαν φθαρεί λόγω των καιρικών συνθηκών. Οι υφιστάμενοι φίκοι δίπλα από την πισίνα προκάλεσαν σοβαρά προβλήματα, καθώς το ριζικό τους σύστημα εξαπλώθηκε, ανασήκωσε τις παρακείμενες πλάκες και εισχώρησε στους τοίχους αντιστήριξης της πισίνας. 

Τα επικίνδυνα δέντρα ξεριζώθηκαν, οι φθαρμένες πλακοστρώσεις στα δάπεδα και οι κατεστραμμένες επενδύσεις στην πισίνα αποξηλώθηκαν.

Βασικός στόχος της συνεργασίας αρχιτέκτονα και αρχιτέκτονα τοπίου ήταν ο συνδυασμός των σκληρών υλικών [hardscape] με τα φυτικά υλικά [softscape]. Η νέες μαρμάρινες πλακοστρώσεις στην είσοδο και στις βεράντες συνυπάρχουν αρμονικά με τους χώρους πρασίνου με τα καλλωπιστικά φυτά και τα δέντρα. Ιδιαίτερη έμφαση δόθηκε στις δυνατότητες ένταξης και ενσωμάτωσης της φύτευσης στο χώρο. 

Η πισίνα αποκαταστάθηκε και επενδύθηκε με liner στα τοιχώματα και μάρμαρο τραβερτίνο σε  "αντικέ" τελείωμα στο περιμετρικό δάπεδο. Η διαδικασία "αντικέ" περιλαμβάνει σφυρηλάτηση στο μάρμαρο για να παράγει ένα φινίρισμα με αδρή υφή προσδίδοντας αντιολισθηρές ιδιότητες στο δάπεδο. Το νερό και η φύτευση δημιουργούν ένα τοπίο απόλυτης ευεξίας και χαλάρωσης. Το βίωμα του χώρου από τους χρήστες του μπορεί να χαρακτηριστεί ως μια δυναμική εμπειρία, ως το οξυγόνο τους.
